The needlepoint technique was first developed to create intricate designs for clothing, but it quickly became a popular method for designing rugs in Europe during the 18th century, when hand-knot carpets became a thing of the past. Similar in construction to French Aubusson rugs, needlepoints are made in the tent or cross stitch, with thousands of stitches sewn into a large piece of cloth. Each stitch is placed by hand, providing an intricate and detailed pattern on one side (these are not designed to be reversible). Each of the thousands of stitches sewn into the large piece of cloth are placed by hand to create a unique work of art for the home.

Custom rugs, trade pricing, exclusive product, inspired designs. This is how we support designers and their projects. Register here, and then choose to work online or with a showroom. Either way you’ll always receive our special service and support.
Our rugs are designed and photographed in the 8x10 size. If you are considering any other size, the design and/or scale will vary from this standard. Please reach out to our rug experts if you would like more information on a particular design in a specific size.
Our extremely handmade rugs may be of a slightly different size (up to 3 inches). This is due to the beautiful hand-knotted and hand-tufted nature of our rugs.
Vacuum regularly. Loose threads should be trimmed with a scissor (do not pull!). Rug protectors are recommended. If your new rug is exposed to the sun, it is a good idea to rotate regularly to prevent uneven wear. Blot spills with a clean towel (white is best). Cleaning the entire rug should be handled by a professional rug cleaning service.

Rug pads protect the foundation of your hand knotted rug from wear and dirt, and help to preserve the value of your area rug investment. A rug pad helps your rug to lay flat, and helps to prevent slip and trip hazards from buckles in the rug. Rug pads are nonreturnable.
